Back to School

In-Person & Virtual Classes Resume on Monday, January 4

Schools will reopen and classes will resume on Monday, January 4 for all in-person and full-time-virtual students at all grade levels.

Although we are resuming in-person instruction, we expect continued high community spread of COVID-19 and strained hospitals throughout the winter, making Distance Learning periods for particular schools more likely to be needed if we see too many cases at a school, if we see signs of a spreader event, or if we need to transition grades 9-12 to Distance Learning to free up staffing for the elementary and middle schools. We will continue to share district tallies of positive case isolations and close contact quarantines.

Please help protect in-person instruction:

  • Ensure students have a clean approved face covering to wear at school every day. Students can request a cloth face mask or surgical mask at school. Face coverings are mandatory for students in grades 4 and up.

  • Have students who ride a school bus dress warmly since bus windows should be down to increase ventilation. Students should wear face coverings on the bus, and drivers can supply a surgical mask.

  • Promptly call the school if a student tests positive for COVID-19 or is a close contact of someone with COVID-19. See our BPSD Exposure Guidance. For reports before January 4, you can email Health & Safety Director Kerry Ickleberry or leave her a voicemail at 918-336-3311 ext. 1196.

  • Please carefully follow any guidance on isolations and quarantines from our 30 trained district contact tracers, both in and out of school.

  • Help everyone in your family follow sensible precautions at all times.

Chromebooks & Hotspots

Please ensure students come to school on Monday with their district-issued Chromebook and charger in their carrying case. If you have arranged for home internet service and have a Connected Bruins hotspot you no longer need, please return the device, along with its cord and charger, in its box/case to the issuing school’s library.

New district website and mobile app

bps-ok.org has our new district website, while BPSLEARN.COM is still our hub for Distance Learning

We have a new mobile app for students, parents, and community members. You can download the app for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
